Let’s Think Up Lublin Together: Participatory Creation of Lublin 2030 Smart Strategy – one of 116 Urban Practices awarded the URBACT Good Practice Label

On October 29, 2024, the URBACT IV Monitoring Committee selected 116 URBACT Good Practices from the 249 submissions received during the call that ran from April 15 to June 30, 2024. The URBACT Good Practice label is awarded to urban initiatives that are effective, participatory, integrated, relevant, and easily transferable to other European cities.

These Good Practices will be promoted across URBACT communication channels from 2024 to 2025, with a highlight at the URBACT City Festival 2025 held from April 8-10, 2025, in Wrocław, Poland. The URBACT City Festival 2025 will offer Good Practice cities the opportunity to present their initiatives, inspire other European cities, and forge project partnerships with URBACT cities interested in adapting these practices through URBACT Transfer Networks.

The result of the project Let’s Think Up Lublin Together: Participatory Creation of the Lublin 2030 Smart Strategy is the Lublin 2030 Strategy, developed based on a pre-established concept and funded with a grant of nearly PLN 2.4 million awarded to the Municipality of Lublin through a competition organized by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, Human Smart Cities: Smart Cities Co-Created by Residents. The main goal of this competition was to create a livable, resident-friendly city through smart solutions, with citizens actively participating in its management and shared decision-making. Achieving a widely accepted vision for Lublin in 2030 was a complex process involving a large team and requiring the use of carefully selected methods and tools. The project was divided into stages, with each outcome achieved through the collective effort of many individuals and communities.

Participation in the URBACT City Festival 2025 and other similar initiatives is among the tasks of the Local Government Academy of Strategic Management, established as part of this project. Its mission is to promote participatory management as an effective method for building relationships and achieving results using participatory methods and techniques, analytical tools, and consultation and management resources.
