Green Systems for Cities to Meet the Challenges of the 21st Century – (SEMINAR 26.09.2024)
“Green Networks” is a project carried out by the Department of Landscape Design and Planning at the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), in cooperation with Lublin City Hall, as well as various institutions and social organisations. The project is scheduled to run from 2024 to 2026.
As part of the project, a “Green System Concept for Lublin” and a generalised “Model for Cities” will be developed to address the challenges cities face in relation to green spaces in an ever-changing world. More about the project: https://lnkd.in/dxxkE8cr
The event is aimed at anyone interested in urban greenery, sustainable development, and the adaptation of cities to climate change. During the seminar, we will present the project’s objectives and expected outcomes. The programme will also include presentations by experts in urban planning and green space management. We will host representatives from institutions such as the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the Institute of Urban and Regional Development, and the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest research, strategies, and policies on green space management, using the examples of Lublin, Gdańsk, and Kraków. The seminar will conclude with a field tour of selected elements of Lublin’s green system.
We invite researchers, officials, representatives of institutions and non-governmental organisations, students, and all those interested in urban greenery and sustainable development to take part.

About the project
This is another collaboration between Lublin City Hall and the academic community, aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of Lublin. The project is part of the implementation of Goal B.1 of the Lublin 2030 Strategy – A Cohesive Urban Green System. The strategy is available at: https://lnkd.in/du4issT6.
The project has been funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s Science for Society II programme. The grant will be implemented between 21 March 2024 and 21 September 2026. The funding amount is PLN 980,040.00.
