New 30,000-liter mixer arrives in Lublin as Medisept embarks on new investment phase in Felin

Medisept, a leading producer of medical disinfectants in Poland, launched the next phase of its ambitious investment strategy on October 25, this time in the Special Economic Zone in Felin, Lublin.

The site now hosts a state-of-the-art, 30,000-liter mixer designed for the production of disinfectant solutions, gels, and soaps. This mixer marks the first visible addition to the factory’s newly expanded section, aimed at increasing the company’s production capacity. Amid challenges such as disease outbreaks, wartime needs, and natural disasters, the ability to quickly and effectively produce these essential products has become vital for public safety in Poland.

Przemysław Śnieżyński, President of the Medisept Management Board, emphasized the significance of this investment for the future of both the company and the disinfectant market, as well as for overall hygiene and cleanliness standards:

“Our company continuously upgrades its machinery to meet the growing medical demands both nationally and globally. New investments planned over the coming months will allow us to increase production capacity by nearly 20%. The plant expansion will also facilitate product improvement, which is essential due to ever-evolving viral threats. For Poland’s safety, it’s crucial to have a facility that can immediately supply adequate disinfectants for public health needs, including the healthcare sector and uniformed services. During the pandemic, when foreign suppliers sharply reduced disinfectant deliveries to Polish hospitals, we realized just how necessary this capability is,” said Śnieżyński.

The new mixer, weighing 5 tons with a diameter of 3.1 meters and a height of 8 meters, is made from high-quality stainless steel and is a key feature of the factory’s expanded section. With a 30,000-liter capacity—more than 1.5 times the size of Medisept’s current mixers—the new equipment will soon be joined by tanks capable of holding up to 100,000 liters of raw materials each. This enhancement will allow Medisept to produce significantly larger quantities of hand and surface disinfectants, as well as surgical instrument cleaners, in a much shorter time frame.

Beyond its size, the mixer is notable for its use of the latest European technology, including a fully digitalized control system.

“Digital dosage control enables precise ingredient mixing, which is crucial for thick substances like soaps and medical-grade disinfectant gels. Additionally, the ultra-modern tank washing system will significantly speed up product changeovers on the production line,” explained Waldemar Ferschke, Medisept’s Vice President. “Ultimately, this mixer will enable the production of 200,000 liters of disinfectant liquids per day, meaning that if necessary, we could supply every resident of Lublin with a one-liter bottle of disinfectant within just two days,” Ferschke added.

With substantial domestic and international orders, expanding Medisept’s production capabilities has become essential. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for new investments, emphasizing the importance of securing a reliable disinfectant supply chain in the event of a crisis. Researchers point out that pandemics recur, as evidenced by historical flu epidemics. Medisept aims to be prepared for any eventuality in an ever-changing world.

“During the pandemic, we identified bottlenecks in our production processes, particularly around mixer capacity and raw material storage. Today, we’re addressing that gap while making a significant technological leap, which will give us a competitive advantage for years to come,” added President Śnieżyński.

The expansion of the Lublin plant is expected to create new jobs and increase tax revenue in the region. The investment is estimated to cost several million zlotys.
