During the Congress of Regions in Wrocław, the newest edition of the ranking of Business-friendly Cities, prepared by the editorial team of Forbes and the Central Economic Information Centre (COIG), was presented. Lublin was ranked sixth among the largest Polish cities.
Building

Half of the companies in Poland are registered in 9 largest cities with over 300 thousand inhabitants (over 15% of Poles live there in total). In terms of management activity, the unquestionable leader among the largest cities is and will be Warsaw for a long time to come. The number of registered companies per 1000 inhabitants is 70% higher than in the second Poznań city and about twice as high as in the subsequent ones on the lists of Wrocław and Kraków. Lublin took the sixth place in the ranking, between Szczecin and Gdańsk, thanks to the increase in the number of companies in the years 2015-2017 by 5.2%. According to data from the end of last year, there are more than 16 companies per 1000 inhabitants of Lublin.

How the ranking of the Business-friendly Cities was created

Cities (and communes) were divided into four categories related to the number of inhabitants: over 300 thousand, 150-299 thousand, 50-149 thousand and under 50 thousand. The number ( data provided by COIG) of new business registrations in the National Court Register in 2015, 2016 and 2017 was taken into account, from which the number of bankruptcies and deletions from the National Court Register made in that period were subtracted. In this way, data were obtained on how many companies arrived in a given area. The number of new companies (net) per 1000 inhabitants determined the order of the ranking.
